Get to Know Us

At Distinctive Love Ministries we believe in creating relationships with our families and our couples by serving them at some of the most stressful, amazing, and sometimes emotional days of their lives. Our couples and families find us and come to us through many different ways including the internet, word of mouth in the wedding and funeral industries, social media and from family and friends of those we’ve served.

By acting with kindness, thoughtfulness, respect and creativity when meeting with couples and families, we strive to be professional in all the ceremonies that we do. New Life celebration, funeral celebrant work and solemnization of marriages are how our congregation grows by further reaching new people at every event we are involved in. We strive to inspire and uplift others at all times in every service that we do!

How it all Began

My journey in Ministry began long before Distinctive Love Ministries was ever established. I was raised in a family where faith was woven into everyday life. We attended church most Sundays in our neighbourhood United Church, and my family was deeply involved in the life of our congregation. My father served as an elder, and his example helped shape my understanding of service, compassion, and leadership.

Like many people, my faith has experienced seasons of both strength and uncertainty. One of the greatest turning points came with the loss of my father in 1995 to Lou Gehrig’s disease (ALS). While grief challenged my faith, it also planted the seeds for a deeper relationship with God that would continue to grow in the years ahead.

After the birth of my first son, I found my way back to church and discovered a passion for Ministering to young children and their families. I became involved in the teen Ministry and later had the privilege of mentoring young women as they prepared for Confirmation and being a trusted member of the Ministry team of the church with children and youth Ministry. Those experiences affirmed my calling to serve others through faith and encouraged me to pursue Ministry more intentionally.

I was eventually hired to lead the Children’s Ministry Department at First Grantham United Church, where I developed and led a thriving and successful children’s ministry program. In 2004, I completed my Funeral Celebrant training, opening the door to a Ministry that would profoundly shape my life’s work. Since then, I have had the privilege of serving well over 1,000 families, helping them honour and celebrate the lives of their loved ones with compassion, hope, dignity, and love. Over the years, I became the trusted spiritual leader many families turned to during life’s most profound moments which is truly and honour I never take for granted.

As my Ministry continued to grow, I was also able to expand into officiating weddings after receiving my licence in the Province. Sharing messages of hope, love, commitment, and joy with thousands of couples each year became another meaningful expression of my calling. What began as a personal ministry gradually grew into something much larger as people were drawn not only to the ceremonies themselves but also to the relationships, care, and ongoing support we offered.

Under the umbrella of Cathy Davis & Company, our leadership team expanded since 2014 to include more than thirty dedicated officiants and ministry leaders. Together, we serve our communities every day through weddings, funerals, family meetings, mentoring, small groups, online gatherings, and pastoral care. Collectively, our team speaks before thousands of people each year, creating opportunities to share the Divine in places where many may not otherwise encounter a traditional church.

Distinctive Love Ministries was born from the belief that the Church is not defined by a building but by its people. We believe worship, fellowship, and spiritual growth can happen wherever people gather. We are grateful to meet in welcoming community spaces such as Hernder and Cave Spring Vineyard’s retreat facilities, as well as through online gatherings that allow us to remain connected beyond physical walls.

Like many faith communities, we experienced a decline in in-person gatherings during the pandemic. Yet, in the years since, our ministry has continued to grow as more individuals, couples, and families have sought meaningful spiritual connection outside the traditional church setting. Today, we are blessed by a growing and engaged congregation made up of the couples we marry, the families we support through loss, and the many people who return to us throughout life’s milestones. Their trust, referrals, and continued involvement have become the foundation upon which Distinctive Love Ministries continues to flourish.

Our mission remains simple: to meet people where they are, to share unconditional love with authenticity and compassion, and to build a welcoming faith community where everyone belongs.

Our Mission

Our Mission

Our church values compassion, self-reflection, inner peace, respect for all beings, harmony with nature, and the search for truth and understanding through spiritual exploration and personal growth.

We believe that there is power in meditation and self reflection and that there is power in setting positive intentions and sending that energy to others.
